Later we created Surviving High School and Cause of Death, the first games with episodes, for EA. Both games hit the Top 25 and were inspirations for other companies. After leaving EA, our team regrouped in a small office and with the quacking of nearby ducklings we set out to create story-driven games with heart. As Pixelberry, we launched two hit games, High School Story and Hollywood U. Our team has now grown to over a dozen of the most experienced game writers in the industry. In our 10 years of creating story games together, we’ve seen heartbreak, marriages, great adventures, and even Pixelbabies. But even through diaper changes and late nights, we think we’ve created our best work to date. We hope you’ll fall in love with our newest characters, Chris, James, Kaitlyn, Dave, and Sam just as we have. Enjoy, - The Pixelberry Team

  • Diamond/key too expensive

    By Brit Marie
I love that this is basically a modern “choose your own adventure” type game. That being said, the “premium” choices are WAY too expensive and come far too frequently in the stories given how long it takes to get diamonds, unless you’re willing to shell out $20 for diamonds that would last maybe 10 premium choices tops. And like another review said- you can’t even replay books for diamonds, and you are stuck using up more keys. I also like their idea of “daily draw” type things that give you diamonds and keys. They need to lower the cost of the premium choices, or make them much less frequent at the current cost. Or they need to give more keys and allow replays to earn diamonds. This app would have 5 stars if it wasn’t so obvious they only want to force their users into constantly buying diamond packages.
  • Takes wayyy too long to get diamonds

Can’t really get into it or make better decisions due to the extremely long time it takes to earn 1 diamond and most selections take 20 diamonds.

I like this app but I don’t like when you have to use a key to read the next chapter, because I always run out of them! But overall, this is a rally good app and I really like it!
  • Make Better Choices

    By tayloralexandria16
The game itself is fun though it’s extremely annoying that the game changing choices cost ridiculous amounts of diamonds. Of course you want money for your app but the amount you expect people to shell out is outrageous and almost makes me want to delete the app all total. Also, The Royal Romance is supposed to be updated weekly on Fridays yet it has been 2 weeks since I read the last chapter and still no update.
  • More diamonds or options!

    By Megaloneous
The stories are fantastic but as it has been said, there needs to be more options or at least an easier way to earn diamonds! Doesn’t make the game very enjoyable if the options you want to pick, you have to pay for because you don’t have diamonds. Otherwise it’s very fun and attention grabbing, the art is fantastic as well!
  • Diamonds

I love this game so much, no other choice / twine game can compare to the quality of choices. The chapters are consistent and I’ve played literally every book on here and loved it. The reason I’m giving it 3 stars though is because of the insane amount of money that I’ve spent on this game. The diamond options are way too pricey and after spending well over $100, I still even receive ads! Now I have a well paying job so this isn’t really a low blow on me but considering many of the people who are playing are probably younger and work minimum wage part time jobs, this is ridiculous. I’m all for supporting companies with good products (that’s why I’ve given so much money to choices) but I feel as if it’s limiting the users enjoyment.
  • Royal Romance Update??

    By Jewelsandjemsbyjen
It’s been over 3 weeks!! Where is the next chapter of Royal Romance??
  • Make it easier to get coins and keys

    By turtle larry
I was playing for like 2hours and only got 5 coin things and no keys. MAKE IT EASIER TO GET COINS AND KEYS PLEASE.!!!!!

    By Glock23
The reason for the one star is because i’ve spent over a hundred dollars on this game just so i can make a good choice. You’d have to go through multiple books to earn enough diamonds for one choice! What kind of ish is that? I refuse to play anymore until you make a cheaper diamond system. It really makes me mad. I’d pay for a membership, watch ads or pay a one time fee for the game but whatever you decide to do please make it reasonable so more your consumers can enjoy. I don’t know if you’re afraid of losing money or what but you’re losing money with these bad reviews, I dont download games with bad reviews and neither do a lot of people. I’m sure you can make an equally amount of money with promos, memberships or one time fees AND have good reviews at the same time. Stop being selfish and help us whom quit this expensive addiction out.
  • Sex sells and they know it.

    By Fragtastic
If Fifty Shades of Gray is your thing, then be my guest. Otherwise this app is a series of mostly poorly written stories (but not all. Some are definitely better than others.) strung together with sex scenes behind diamond doors. It dips its toes into the pornographic and sexually explicit area more often than not and has progressively gotten more explicit as new books are introduced. And quite frankly, at this point, the app should be rated 18 years of age and up. The set up of the game to get players to pay for diamond scenes is manipulative and deceptive. It manipulates money out of the players using jealousy, vanity, sexual desire, even positive traits like altruism and compassion, anything they can to get players to spend money on the story's extended scene options. Most of which have very little role in the ultimate outcome of the story, but they try to make it seem like it does. For example: You have to spend money to save poor lost animals, or to wear this outfit or everyone will comment on how underdressed you are, or to spend time with someone you like or another character will, or to comfort a friend in crisis or they will end up dying in the end (*cough It Lives in the Woods). Other than the crown and the flame and most wanted books, most books allow you to customize the main character, and the story plays the character as "you". You are the one making the choices, and you are the one that the story is happening to, and you are the one in the sex scenes. What this does to the reader/player is that it makes the content very personal in a way that reading any other novel cannot. It makes it more addicting. The point is, this game is designed to be manipulative and addicting, and it is addicting in the very literal sense of that word. Many players live for the 'highs' they get off of sex scenes with fictional characters. Granted the sex scenes are behind diamond doors, and there are usually non-sex choices available (but not always). Also, the game does, to some extent, teach consent, occasionally condemns sexual harassment (like the Zig and Manny storyline in the Sophomore series) and makes a genuine effort to represent sexual and ethnic diversity (like in High School Story and It Lives in the Woods). But with every step forward it also takes several steps back. (I'm looking at you Endless Summer pirate slap on Jake's butt scene. Sexual harassment is sexual harassment. And that scene was specifically used to make Jake fans jealous (like Kele was used to make Quinn fans jealous) Not to mention the New Year's Eve scene in book two. That scene contained a clue, so if you wanted the clue you had to pay to take someone to bed, but there was no choice to opt out of the sexually explicit bondage scene.) The one book of their first three books that didn't have much sex in it (Most Wanted), is the one book they have not bothered to write a follow up book to. They have even admitted that it didn't do as well as the other books in terms of profit. Sex sells and they know it. But when you have adult fans demanding sex scenes with high school aged characters, there is something seriously wrong, and not just with the fan base either. Pixelberry really needs to take a hard look at the content they are providing fans.
