Description

The Almanac Extra! on iPad and iOS phones. Subscriptions available! Download the iPad app. Then choose a yearly rate of $9.99 for our biggest savings or subscribe for $0.99/month for seasonal articles, advice, and a smile—plus, weather updates. Details below! Once (a Year) Is Not Enough! For more than two centuries, as surely as the Sun rises in the east, maple leaves turn color in autumn, and drinking a glass of water while lying across a chair on your stomach cures hiccups, The Old Farmer’s Almanac has been published in September—just as it will continue to be. However, for fortunate users—like you!—of iPads and iOS phones, this steadfast American icon is now also available monthly in this e-magazine format! Each edition of Almanac EXTRA! contains feature articles on subjects that have defined The Old Farmer’s Almanac as a “calendar of the heavens” for centuries—topics such as astronomy, weather, gardening, nature and the outdoors, farming, food, anniversaries, and, of course, the calendar itself. After all, it’s the holidays and other significant events that make the world go ’round. You’ll find audio and video multimedia content within Almanac EXTRA!, making it far more interactive and fun than plain printed pages. Here are highlights from the September 2017 edition: Gardening: The glory of geraniums Calendar: Full Corn Moon, birthstone sapphire, U.S. space/Moon program, 1793 Almanac tidbits Living Naturally: How to save your harvest safely Food: Great recipes for tomatoes Astronomy: Explore with our Sky Map Anniversary: History of the Almanac’s frontispiece Plus: Weather Update • U.S. and Canadian Weather Forecasts • Gardening by the Moon’s Sign • Best Days to Do Things • Humor • and much more in the September EXTRA! • Great Magazine, people with access problems follow directions!

This is a wonderful magazine and a great reference tool and such a nice gift from tractor supply to give to neighbor club members. I have noticed several people saying that this was supposed to be a free subscription but everything is paid only, however these people are not reading the directions that were sent to them on how to subscribe for their free subscription. It appears that way at first but then when you actually go into my account and enter the email address that is on file with tractor supply that you received the invitation with, when you go back into the main section you will see that you can download several of the previous issues, and if you click on your account again, it no longer asks for email but now tells you when your subscription expires. For example I can now download several months of issues along with several free issues and when I click on my account it now Says my subscription expires February 2019. Just trying to help and thank you again to tractor supply

If you want the subscription you have to follow the instructions in the email...under my account in the farmer's almanac app you type your email that you got that said you got a free subscription and then you'll see all the 2017 magazines available to download if you click categories/my issues. :)

It is an odd app - and not entirely clear how to use. But content loading is abysmal, on a fast network. At 40+% after an hour, I gave up and just deleted the app. It isn't interesting enough to be worth the hassle.
  • Nothing is free!

Should not mislead by offering the app for free but then have to subscribe and pay for the information. Waste of time, deleted.
  • What a find!

This is one of the best apps I've found! Great information and beautiful presentation! I love the fact that I could buy 1 subscription and download it free for my smartphone as well. The iPad and smartphone each have the same info, but designed differently for each device. Easy to read and a great way to share or save the recipes!

I purchased the annual subscription, and although I’m only on the second issue, I’m already hooked! I love the Old Farmer’s Almanac, and this monthly is a great supplement to the annual print publication. I read it on my iPad and my iPhone 6S and it works great on both. I prefer reading it on the iPad because the designs and photos are great! I have the latest IOS and have had no problems at all. Keep it coming!

  • Waste of $9.99

I am on the latest IOS and cannot get a single magazine to load. I see them but after tapping it goes to blank pages. I let the October issue load but started to read it and it went blank. Deleted the app and reinstalled and restarted twice. No luck. We were very disappointed as we thought the yearly electronic version would be more up to date then the once a year printing. Perhaps some bug fixes should be released to go with the current IOS otherwise this is the same as burning a ten dollar bill. And much more frustrating.

The content was minimal, and not what I expected for a product of this kind. I was expecting a lot more for the purchase.
